Engine oil filter installation steps

The engine is the heart of engineering machinery and maintains the operation of the entire machine. During the operation of the engine, metal wear debris, dust, carbon deposits and colloidal sediments oxidized at high temperatures, water, etc. are constantly mixed into the lubricating oil. The function of the oil filter is to filter out impurities, colloids and moisture in the oil, deliver clean oil to various lubricating parts, and extend its service life. It plays a decisive role in engineering machinery! You should also pay attention when using the filter. Let’s summarize how to use the filter normally.

First of all, it is recommended that you must choose filter elements produced by regular manufacturers.
The structure of the oil filter element is simple, and its internal filter paper and some important parts are difficult to distinguish from the appearance. Therefore, various counterfeit filter elements emerge in an endless stream, and the price is low, so some users buy fake and inferior products in order to save money. I would like to remind you that these filter elements from informal channels not only cannot protect your machine very well, but may even cause some damage. Once impurities are mixed inside the machine, the gain will outweigh the loss.

Oil filter replacement steps:
Step 1: Drain Waste Oil
First drain the waste oil from the fuel tank, place an old oil container under the oil pan, open the oil drain bolt, and drain the waste oil. When draining the engine oil, try to let the engine oil drip for a while to ensure that the waste oil is drained cleanly. (The engine oil will produce a lot of impurities through use. If it is not discharged cleanly when replacing it, it will easily block the oil circuit, causing poor oil supply and causing wear of structural parts.)

Step 2: Remove the old oil filter element
Move the old oil container under the machine filter and remove the old filter element. Be careful not to let waste oil contaminate the inside of the machine.

Step 3: Preparations before installing the oil filter element
There are two ways to install the oil filter element. The most common one is vertical installation, and there are also many small-dig machine filters that are installed horizontally. The installation methods are different, so there are two situations when filling the engine oil:
Let’s talk about the vertically installed oil filter element. It is connected to the oil pump through an oil pipe. This installation method generally recommends users to replace the engine filter and fill the filter element with oil. If the new machine filter is not filled with oil, air resistance will occur inside the new filter element, which will cause a short-term lack of oil lubrication inside the machine when starting the car, which will cause wear of structural parts. The advantage of vertical installation is that the filter element has better sealing and less oil leakage occurs.

Correct operation method of vertically installed oil filter element:
Before replacing the machine filter, find a clean environment, remove the protective film, and then fill the new machine filter with engine oil. During the oil filling process, pay attention to the surrounding environment, check the oil barrel and the oil filling port, and make sure not to bring in dirt or other impurities. , after filling the engine oil, wipe the engine oil on the sealing ring with your hands to increase the sealing performance.

Let’s talk about the horizontally installed oil filter element. It is directly connected to the oil pump without passing through the oil pipe. This design will not produce air resistance inside the engine filter when filling the oil tank with oil. There is no need to add the filter element inside before installation. Inject engine oil. When injecting new engine oil into the oil tank, the oil filter element can be directly filled with engine oil.

Correct operation method of horizontally installed oil filter element
Use your hands to apply a layer of engine oil on the new oil filter element sealing ring to increase the sealing, and then install it directly. During this period, you should also pay attention to the surrounding environment to avoid bringing in impurities when filling the engine oil.

Step 4: Install the new oil filter
Check the oil outlet where the oil filter element is installed, and clean the dirt and residual waste oil on it. Before installation, first put a sealing ring on the oil outlet, and then slowly screw on the new machine filter. Do not tighten the machine filter too tightly. Generally, after tightening it by hand, use a wrench to tighten it 3/4. Just circle it. When installing a new filter element, be careful not to use too much force when using a wrench, otherwise it will easily damage the sealing ring inside the filter element, causing the sealing effect to deteriorate and the filtering effect to be lost!

Step 5: Fill the engine oil tank with new engine oil
Finally, pour new oil into the oil tank, using a funnel if necessary to prevent the oil from pouring outside the engine. After filling, check the lower part of the engine again for leaks. If there are no leaks, check the oil dipstick to see if the oil is filled to the upper line, we recommend filling it to the upper line. During daily work, everyone should also check the oil dipstick regularly. If the engine oil is less than the offline level, it should be replenished in time.

Summary: The oil filter element plays an irreplaceable role in the oil circuit of engineering machinery.

A small oil filter may seem inconspicuous, but it plays an irreplaceable role in engineering machinery. Machinery cannot live without engine oil, just like the human body cannot live without healthy blood. Once the human body loses too much blood or the blood undergoes qualitative changes, life will be seriously threatened. The same goes for machines. If the oil in the engine enters the lubricating oil circuit directly without being filtered by the filter element, the impurities contained in the oil will be brought to the friction surface of the metal, accelerating the wear of parts and reducing the service life of the engine. Although replacing the oil filter element is an extremely simple task, correct operation methods can extend the service life of the machine.
