The components and uses of truck mounted cranes

What type of truck is a truck mounted crane? Truck-mounted crane is the abbreviation of truck-mounted lifting transport vehicle. It is a transport vehicle that combines a truck-mounted crane with a chassis. It achieves lifting operations through a combination of different actions such as luffing, telescoping, rotation, and winches. Truck-mounted cranes generally consist of a truck chassis, cargo compartment, power take-off, and crane. Let’s learn about the components and uses of truck-mounted cranes.

Truck-mounted cranes can also be called truck-mounted lifting transport vehicles. In some places, they are also called truck cranes, self-propelled cranes, etc. according to custom. It is a kind of equipment that realizes the lifting, turning and lifting of goods through a hydraulic lifting and telescopic system. It is usually installed on a truck. It integrates hoisting and transportation, and is mostly used in stations, warehouses, docks, construction sites, field rescue and other places. Can be equipped with cargo compartments of different lengths and cranes of different tonnages. A water tank can also be added to the carriage to form a truck-mounted crane sprinkler truck.

Components and uses of truck mounted crane:
1. Crane arm
The boom is extended and retracted by a hydraulic cylinder, and the hook pulley is suspended from the top of the boom.

2. Load indicator
The load indicator indicates the total rated load of the vehicle chassis in the unloaded state for various boom lengths and boom angles.

3. Hoisting mechanism
The winch mechanism is driven by a hydraulic motor and lifts or lowers heavy objects through a wire rope.

4. Column
The column supports the boom, hoisting mechanism and luffing cylinder, and is driven by the slewing system.

5. Rotary system
The rotary system generally includes a hydraulic motor, a hydraulic reduction gearbox, etc., to rotate the column.

6. Frame base
The base is mounted directly to the car’s chassis and supports the uprights and leg frames.

7. Hydraulic oil tank
The hydraulic oil tank contains the hydraulic oil specially used for truck-mounted cranes, and plays the role of heat dissipation and sedimentation filtration.

8. Outrigger joystick
The outrigger joystick is used to control the telescopic movement of the left and right outrigger cylinders.

9. Outrigger cylinder
During the operation of the truck-mounted crane, in order to stabilize the vehicle, the outrigger cylinders are extended to the ground to improve the operational stability of the truck-mounted crane.

10. Speaker
Used to warn people within the working range during lifting operations.

11. Accelerator lever
The accelerator lever is used to adjust the engine speed and power output to meet the lifting requirements.

12. Rotary joystick
The slewing joystick is used to control the slewing mechanism to make the column and boom rotate left and right.

13. Amplitude joystick
The luffing joystick is used to control the telescopic action of the luffing cylinder to control the height of the boom.

14. Hoist joystick
The hoist control lever is used to control the hoist mechanism (raising or lowering heavy objects).

15. Hoist joystick
The telescopic joystick is used to control the movement of the telescopic cylinder, and the telescopic pulley frame is used to control the telescopic boom.

16. PTO
The PTO rod (power take-off rod) is used to control the engine’s power output and cutoff to the truck crane.

17. Luffing cylinder
The luffing cylinder is an actuator that makes the boom move upward or downward.

18. Hook pulley block
By increasing or decreasing the pulley on it, the hoisting magnification can be converted, and heavy objects can be lifted directly by the hook.

19. Steel wire rope
The output torque of the drum is transferred to the hook.

20. Over-roll alarm device
When the hook pulley approaches the top of the boom, the over-roll alarm device automatically sends an alarm signal. This prevents the wire rope from overcoiling.

21. Rear outriggers
It is installed at the rear of the vehicle’s rear axle and connected to the frame to further improve the stability of the vehicle.
